Mario Bros. the 2 is a 1988 platform game for the Nintendo Entertainment System NES released by Nintendo Entertainment. It starts with Mario and his friends entering The dream world of Subcon which has been taken over by a villain named Wart. Players may play as Mario Luigi Princess Toadstool Peach or Toad each with different abilities. In contrast to other Mario games players have to pick up and throw objects like vegetables to defeat enemies.

This is a seven-world game each with a different theme including deserts and snowfields. One of the most iconic features of this game is that enemies like Shy Guy and Birdo made their first appearance in this game. The game is divided into 20 levels and The final challenge is to defeat Wart and free Subcon from his control.

Mario Bros. the 2nd Mario game stands out because it introduced new gameplay mechanics such as vertical scrolling and item-throwing which were different from the classic horizontal movement of earlier. It has been remade for different consoles and remains a fan favorite.
