Super Mario Bros. 2 is a platform game released in 1988 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The story starts with Mario and his friends entering the dream world of Subcon, which has been taken over by a villain named Wart. Players can choose to play as Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool (Peach), or Toad, each with different abilities. Unlike other Mario games, players must pick up and throw objects like vegetables to defeat enemies.

The game features seven unique worlds, each with a different theme, including deserts and snowfields. One of the most iconic features is that enemies like Shy Guy and Birdo made their first appearance in this game. The game has 20 levels, and the final challenge is to defeat Wart and free Subcon from his control.

Super Mario Bros. 2 stands out because it introduced new gameplay mechanics, such as vertical scrolling and item-throwing, which were different from the classic horizontal movement of earlier Mario games. This game has been remade for different consoles and remains a fan favorite.
